How about this - Ice and Maverick are kidnapped. Ice is actually Simon Templar from The Saint and Maverick is actually Ethan Hunt from Mission Impossible. Each of them assumes they're the reason they're in this situation and the other is only there for leverage. Both of them are surprisingly calm about it and immediately agree to not have The Talk until they get out of there (which they do very quickly) (they work surprisingly well together).

They never find out which one of them was the actual target of the kidnapping. They still bicker about it fifty years later.

Emma twisted the drink napkin, tighter and tighter, scanning each face that walked by. Her feet hurt from standing in her rarely-worn heels. Emma wasn't sure how Simon found an old-fashioned dance hall, but when a dress arrived with a slip of paper, her heart gave a painful but happy flutter. The slip had had an address, a time and a date, and, what made her smile widen, a little stick figure drawing of a saint. She'd shown up at 6:30 on the dot, half an hour before the time on the card. Getting there, however, while wearing a lovely dress that she refused to learn how much actually cost and weaving through London alley ways, made her feel a little ridiculous. One part like a girl playing dress up, one part starlet sneaking to a speakeasy. The dance hall had been tucked between an old pub and a [chippery? laundry?], and she could hear the jaunty swing music from the narrow street.

Stuck thinking about SaintGun AUs again, so what about Tom and Simon who are siblings, and half the reason Simon started wearing his masks is because he has some Gender Fuckery going on. Trans, nonbinary, genderfluid, I don't really care, just. You know. He likes to fuck with his appearence and gender presentation and all of it.

I just. I need gender fuckery Simon.

(Cue a bunch of angst for anyone into it, Tom is closeted in the Navy while his sibling is out there doing all that and not speaking to anyone from the family going on seven years.)

Also, Ralph turned down the role of Simon Templar in "The Saint". Finally Val accepted the role.

“The man’s a ghost.” Director Brassel scowls at the dossier in disgust. It contains a string of aliases and a conspicuous lack of personal details. Name, age, origin – all blank. “Well, Hunt? You’re the expert on this faceless thief.”

“Not faceless, sir,” Ethan disagrees. Bruno Hartenfaust. Lou Vannes. Honoré Amiens. A new identity every time they met. Ethan’s known undercover operatives less paranoid. “A many-faced saint, if anything.”

“How poetic,” Brassel grumbles.

Ethan hides a grin. He’ll have to pass that onto the Saint when he next sees him. He’ll be delighted at causing the IMF no end of headaches.
